as a kid i used to make little greeting cards for holidays, always signing “hillmark” on the back. i grew up loving the hallmark card commercials, always flipping over a greeting card i’d received to see if it was from hallmark––after seeing if there was money in it.
more recently, this summer I had a dream about greeting cards while i was in portugal on sabbatical. that dream ultimately inspired these handcrafted paper sculptures. they’re intended to be given as gifts (to you or someone else), holding a handwritten greeting card or note, an invitation, a photo, or a keepsake.
they stand fully on their own (as pictured) to become part of the decor of the receiver’s home, office, or space.
they also fully unfold to become an original, three-dimensional, square abstract painting.
each piece is one-of-a-kind, hand-painted, hand-folded, hand-cut, and hand-signed by me, the artist, jarrett hill.
