The Rotunda: Partisan Speechmaker

On the heels of a tumultuous Republican convention, the Democratic National Committee is now rocked by its own email scandal forcing DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to resign. On Trimmel Gomes’ latest episode of The Rotunda, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum reveals plans for his remarks alongside president Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine and others. So far Gillum is the only Floridian with a speaking slot at the DNC and he says his message will be focused on unity. Gomes also talks with Jarrett Hill, a former Tampa Bay reporter, who was first to break the story about similarities between Melania Trump’s speech and a speech Michelle Obama gave in 2008.

Plus, Brian Burgess, former spokesman for Gov. Rick Scott and now publisher of The Capitolist media site, reacts to Scott’s speech and discusses other highlights from the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
